SHELDON WILLIAMS, Staff Reporter
The Granville Police in Montego Bay, St James, and the Constabulary Communications Network(CCN) last night disputed claims that a man alleged to be one of two rapists who sexually assaulted five females had been killed.
The police up to press time last night were denying any knowledge of the death of the man who was said to be behind the rape of the women in Irwin Point.
Gruesome pictures of a man who had been decapitated were being shared on Blackberry messenger last night. The pictures were accompanied by a broadcast message that claimed that fast and effective justice had been served as the man was pounced on by a mob and disfigured. The pictures also surfaced on several blog sites on Facebook.
The message read, “justice served quick and fast. One a di rapist dem head, hand and foot just cut off fast, fast, fast…”
lacked authenticity
The Granville Police confirmed that they were aware of the circulation of the image and message but said they lacked authenticity as the police were unaware of such a killing.
On Monday night five females including an eight-year-old girl were raped at gunpoint at their home in Irwin Point by two men who invaded their home.
Several public figures and entities have since condemned the act. Investigations are continuing in the incident.
