WEST WINDSOR รข An early morning crash on Route 1 left a man dead and traffic blocked for hours.
West Windsor Police Lt. Pat McCormack said the crash occurred when the driver of a Jeep Wrangler crashed into a utility pole on the southbound side of the highway between Alexander Road and Carnegie Center Boulevard.
“An eyewitness saw him veer off the road, but we don’t know why,” he said.
All four occupants of the Jeep Wrangler were ejected upon impact, McCormack said.
The three passengers were transported to the University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro with injuries not believed to be life-threatening, he said.
The identify of the victim was not immediately available as police hadn’t made contact with his family, McCormack said.
As a result of the crash, southbound Route 1 traffic was completely blocked off between Alexander Road and Carnegie Center Boulevard.
A two-car crash on Washington Road shortly afterwards left all but one lane of northbound traffic open.
All north and southbound lanes were re-opened later in the morning, McCormack said.
