Tropical Storm Tomas hits the Caribbean

Tropical Storn Tomas hits Caribbean News feed from BBC Caribbean

The United Nations on Monday ordered emergency food and shelter to parts of Haiti threatened by Tropical Storm Tomas.

It is expected to regain hurricane strength when it hits the earthquake battered nation on friday. UN agencies said up to 500,000 people could be affected by the storm. The agencies have rushed supplies to camps across Haiti. In some cases they have sent enough fuel for seven days in anticipation that roads will be cut off by the hurricane.
